My shy son loves math thanks to Steve and is now more confident. Also, his grades skyrocketed. My 4th grader will jump up from computer gaming for a math lesson no questions asked. I want to go 3-4 times a week! Loves doing math with Steve.

Steve: [My daughter] cannot wait to start the fun math discussion with you today! She mentioned that attending a math lesson with you is like meeting the Number Devil from the book, though it’s not in a dream and it’s with Steve instead of a devil.

Steve: You’re guiding my child and his friend through an enjoyable exploration, and often letting them walk in front. You encourage varieties of solutions. What you give them is deep, and not obvious. You give them more than just problem-solving methods, and also more than an understanding of the underlying math principles. You lead them to discover those principles and to think about how they can think, by showing them how they have been thinking, encouraging them to go further with it, and showing or leading them to find alternative ways. Every week, the kids look forward to their video math session.
Peter, parent of an online student (learns with a friend)
Hi Steve – I just wanted to write to tell you how happy I am with [my daughter’s] progress. I find that she is opening up and talks about math concepts without fear of making a mistake or sounding silly. She talks with her cousin about what she learned in math with joy and enthusiasm. This is in stark contrast to her experience at [a popular math school] where, one day, I overheard her tell her teacher that she has another way to solve a problem, and the teacher replied that she had to do it the teacher’s way. Ugh!
Cecile, parent of a 2nd-grade small-group virtual student
Steve: I think you are a natural at working with and teaching kids – you continually push their thinking further, and ask questions to allow them to draw their own conclusions. These are important qualities for a math teacher. There is not always time in a large public school classroom to work individually with students because teachers are always racing the clock to prepare students for standardized tests. So it was extra enjoyable for me to see kids learning about math in a playful, relaxed environment.
Jennifer, Middle School Math Teacher
If your child struggles with math, Steve will show them math can be fun. If your child loves math, Steve will provide challenges to get them thinking more deeply and experimenting with math to solve real-life problems.
